Get Involved

There are multiple ways to get involved in the Tech Justice Lab, based on your interest level, experience, and availability. To stay in the loop about upcoming events and opportunities, including workshops, guest speaker visits, and research initiatives, please sign up for our mailing list.

Student Affiliates

Benefits:

  • Joining a diverse, interdisciplinary network and community of people with shared interests in tech justice across campus and in the Greater Lafayette area.
  • Inclusive mentorship from TJL faculty and staff affiliates.
  • Critical, interdisciplinary research opportunities.
  • Fulfilling Scholarly Project Requirement (for JMHC students).
  • Priority registration for TJL events and workshops.
  • Learning about and enrolling in courses related to tech justice.
  • Professional development and world-readiness opportunities.
  • Research funds to support projects, conference travel, etc.
  • Contributing to the lab's vision, goals, and programming.
  • Opportunities to meet invited speakers and co-organize events.
  • Voting rights in matters of lab governance.
  • Affiliation recognized on TJL website.

Requirements:

  • Attending a minimum of two tech justice events a semester.
  • Attending the affiliate lab meeting (once a semester).
  • Inviting peers, faculty, staff, and community members to join the lab's network and participate in events.
  • Optional: carrying out research through the lab.

Faculty Affiliates

  • Access to TJL research and professional development discretionary funds.
  • Collaborate in inviting guest speaker with support from TJL resources, and opportunity to be faculty-chair for annual keynote speaker.
  • Opportunity to research with and mentor highly motivated students committed to tech justice.
  • Disseminate opportunities, events, course flyers, publication news, etc. through lab’s network, including listerv with 175+ members.
  • Opportunities to participate on internal and external grant proposals with fellow affiliates.
  • Voting rights in matters of lab governance.
  • Affiliation recognized on TJL website.

Requirements:

  • Meaningfully engage TJL student affiliates through inclusive research mentorship, extracurricular activities, and courses.
  • Collaborate with director on lab-related programming.
  • Attending the affiliate lab meeting (once a semester).
  • Inviting students, colleagues, and community members to join the lab's network and participate in events.

Staff Affiliates
